A Better Routeplanner enables charging via Cariqa Connect, with prices set directly by CPOs

A Better Routeplanner (ABRP), the leading route planning app for EV drivers, has integrated Cariqa Connect to offer charging and payments inside its platform.

Drivers can now tap a charger surfaced in their ABRP route, pay, and start the session without downloading another app, and at the direct charge point operator (CPO) price.

Who is ABRP?

ABRP is the leading route planning platform for EV drivers. It tells drivers where to stop, when to charge, and how charging fits into the wider route, which is particularly valuable on long-distance trips, where charging confidence shapes the whole journey.

Closing the gap between charging discovery and payment

Many platforms surface chargers but can't enable drivers to actually start and pay for a session, leaving a gap that drivers fill by switching apps, scanning QR codes, or setting up new accounts at the station when they need to charge.

Until now, closing that gap has meant either routing users out to a separate app or building a charging product in-house, but Cariqa Connect offers an alternative solution, with two ways to integrate:

  • Connect API is a full-code integration built for OEMs, fleets and mobility platforms that want deep, native control of the charging experience.
  • Connect Links is a low-code integration built for maps, comparison sites and discovery apps, i.e. platforms that already surface chargers and want to enable payment without forcing users to download anything.

ABRP has integrated Connect Links, enabling drivers to tap a charger inside ABRP, pay, and start the session, with no extra app or separate sign-up necessary. In addition, because the price comes directly from the CPOs, there are no reseller markups.

For ABRP

Cariqa Connect Links lets ABRP turn charger visibility into a transactable service, adding charging payments without building a charging product or routing drivers out to a third-party app at the station.

Instead of sending users elsewhere to pay, ABRP keeps drivers in flow and earns from every transaction. The low-code integration means fast time to launch and no overhead managing payment infrastructure, compliance, or CPO contracts.

“ABRP has always been focused on making EV journeys easier to plan and complete. Drivers use ABRP because they want confidence in the road ahead: where to stop, when to charge, and how to get there smoothly.
By working with Cariqa, we can now help drivers go beyond planning the charging stop and actually start and pay for charging within the same experience, with access to transparent pricing connected directly to CPOs.” - Bo Lincoln, Co-Founder, ABRP

For CPOs connected to Cariqa

ABRP is one of the highest-intent touchpoints in the EV journey, with drivers using it specifically to decide where to stop and charge. Through Cariqa Connect, partner CPOs become reachable inside ABRP without a separate integration, giving them an entirely new channel of demand without giving up commercial control.

"ABRP is one of the most important touchpoints in the EV journey. Drivers use it to decide where and when to charge, which makes it the right place to bring payment into the same flow.
With Connect Links, ABRP can now offer charging at the exact moment a driver is deciding where to stop, with prices coming directly from the operator. For CPOs on Cariqa, that means access to demand that's already chosen to charge: drivers with a stop planned, not drivers hoping to find one.” - Issam Tidjani, CEO & Co-Founder, Cariqa

For drivers

For drivers, the change is simple: plan the journey in ABRP, then start and pay for the charging session when you get to the charger. No extra app or sign-up, and clearer pricing from the CPO running the charger.

What’s next

ABRP joining Cariqa Connect is an important step in making EV charging easier to access through the platforms drivers already use.

As Cariqa Connect continues to grow, more platforms will join ABRP, Chargeprice and Eco-Movement to enable charging that is transparent, scalable, and directly connected to CPOs - so watch this space!
